Beginners Running Clinic 2017

Townsville Road Runners holds beginners running clinics in February each year. This year the 3 week clinic will be over the first 3 weeks in February and will start on  Saturday 4th  February 2017.

The Details

The beginners clinics take place over 3 sessions, Sat 4th, 11th and 18th, starting at 6.00am  from Strand Park (outside the Picnic Bay Surf Life Saving Club). 
 

The cost will be $5.00 for each of the 3 sessions (a total cost of $15).

It is designed for adults who are beginners who wish to get started into running and runners with little experience and a desire / determination to start and hopefully continue running.

Townsville Road Runners will provide instruction and tips on how to start a running / jogging program and how to continue with it.
Instruction will include motivation, nutrition, injury prevention, shoe selection and more.

IT IS NOT NECESSARY TO HAVE PRIOR EXPERIENCE OR LOOK ATHLETIC.

IT IS NECESSARY TO BE MEDICALLY CAPABLE OF 20 min TO 30 min OF MILD ACTIVITY.

Wear comfortable clothing for the activity plus running or jogging shoes and a cap or hat.

Water is provided before and after the sessions. Tea, coffee and bickies are also included afterwards.

Format will be:-
1.Sign in at 6.00am.
2. Start a stretching routine.
3. Explanation of the session.
4. Division into groups,depending on experience and ability. Depending on your ability you will be allocated into one of three groups where for between 10 to 30 minutes you will do a jog/walk repeats of either 1 minute on jogging/3 minutes off walking or 2 minutes on jogging/2 minutes off walking and 3 minutes on jogging and 1 minute off walking.  You will be surprised how far you can get in this time. 
5. Start session

The maximum duration of the sessions will be 20 to 30 minutes and will finish with a warm down, stretching and discussion. Actual running time will be 10 to 20 minutes but not necessarily all at the one time. The session will be finished around 6.45am.

Bring personal water bottle if necessary. (You may require water during the session)

Why run? To tone up, feel good, to set a goals (time or distance), to get fit, to get some quiet time, or even as a social outing, etc, etc
